777 at Manifest Urban Arts Festival
These students know how to #LiveArtfully
The South Loop is bursting with creativity and the students at Columbia College Chicago are at the center of this cultural renaissance. Galleries, underground performances, street events and public art are only a few of the countless ways this culture is embedded into this neighborhood (Chicago has way more to offer than the Art Institute, everybody).
We had the opportunity to sponsor CCC Manifest this past Friday and had an unforgettable experience being a part of this explosive event! Manifest is a celebration of graduating seniors that consists of student showcases and performances in almost every medium you can imagine. These students truly embody what it means to #LiveArtfully.
At 777, we are proud to be a new addition to the South Loop and cherish our connection with the community. Although we are no longer student housing, we maintain close ties with local students and universities. At Manifest, we created an interactive piece of artwork that united the South Loop, Columbia College and 777 together. We asked attendees to share one word that embodies the neighborhood and write it on our chair. This chair, which will find a home in our lobby as a keepsake, is a symbol of community, shared experiences and free-thought.
We had the best seats in the house and enjoyed student performances on the Main Stage all day long. Though it was a rainy and chilly spring day, the show still went on! Did you know Columbia College Chicago is one of the only schools in the United States offering Hip Hop studies courses? Neither did we, and judging from the energy on stage, these kids are going to be coming out with serious hits.
We laughed, we rocked, we went home and took a hot shower. Manifest did not disappoint, and we cannot wait to be blown away by next year's showcases.
Congratulations to those who graduated this weekend and to all future and current students who are finding their passions! You inspire us all to think differently and to see more. Keep #LivingArtfully.
